Morris Heights Health Center Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway

Morris Heights Health Center Hosts Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway

BRONX, NEW YORK, November 25, 2021-- Thankfulness is the message that Morris Heights Health Center is spreading across several of our Bronx locations ahead of this holiday season. At MHHC, we’re assisting families in the Bronx to a warm meal just in time for Thanksgiving. From November 17th-24th, we held our annual Thanksgiving Giveaway initiative, a part of the organization’s “The Sharing Place” campaign. During this weeklong event, MHHC staff distributed turkey vouchers and bags of non-perishable food items to members of the community. We served more than 1200 families.

“The Sharing Place” was developed out of a need to combat social and health inequalities plaguing many Bronx communities. According to research, people who are food insecure are affected by diet-sensitive chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Every year, we partner with local community organizations to provide meals to families during the holidays and thereafter. “Thanksgiving is a time of togetherness and gratitude,” expressed President & CEO Mari G. Millet “Our annual Thanksgiving event is a way for us to show our appreciation to those who have entrusted MHHC with their care and give back to the communities in which we serve.” As we prepare to celebrate with family and friends this Thanksgiving, we’re encouraging everyone to get vaccinated or tested for COVID-19 ahead of any gatherings to protect you and your loved ones.
