School Based Health Centers

About MHHC’s School Based Health Centers (SBHC)

Welcome to the MHHC School Based Health Center (SBHC) Program!

The School Based Health Centers Program is a student-based health clinic. It like a doctor’s office located in your child’s school. We don’t take the place of your child’s doctor, but rather, we work closely with your child’s doctor to provide quality health care right at the school. The health center is conveniently located in the school building to minimize your child’s absence and to limit your time away from work.

The Morris Heights School-Based Program one of the nation’s leading Programs and one of New York State’s largest; most innovated and most recognized Programs. We have been providing quality care to our New York City public school students for over 35 years. And, we continue to be at the forefront, serving over 17,000 students annually.

The School-Based clinics are opened from 8:00am-4:00pm on regular school days. We prefer appointments but walk-ins are welcome anytime.

Currently we operate clinics in twenty (20) New York City public schools; each of which is strategically situated across our home region of the Bronx, New York.

At the School-Based Health Centers (SBHC), your child receives care and services that are provided at NO COST to you; regardless of insurance or immigration status. The SBHC can bill insurances for services, however, there are NO COPAYs for you, and you do not receive a bill for services from the SBHC.

We have an Interdisciplinary Approach to Caring for our Students

Through our twenty (20) School Based Health Centers we partner with forty-eight (48) schools. These range from Pre-K through High School. At our health centers, we offer a wide range of comprehensive health and social services.

Our medical providers welcome information sharing opportunities. They work cooperatively with other external providers; offering insight on services provided within the school setting; as well as actively inquiring about health information that supports advancement of care.
