Mari G. Millet is a Healthcare Executive with over 40 years extensive leadership experience in In-patient Acute Care, Ambulatory Care, Surgical Services, Emergency /Urgent Care and Community Healthcare. Her focus has always been on “wellbeing” and has always chosen to serve those in “underserved” Communities. Her driving mantra has always been to “give back” through addressing the social determinants of health.

A strategic visionary, Ms. Millet demonstrates keen foresight which has turned around the operations of multiple healthcare organizations. She has worked with city organizations to increase access to healthcare that addressed health disparities impacting the city of New York. Leading a multidisciplinary team, 11 additional health centers were built throughout the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Manhattan and Staten Island. She was able to effectuate change that promoted improvements in the model of care provided by the current Community Health Centers which led to the City’s broad expansion of access to care.

Ms. Millet’s unique view on making communities healthier and preventing diseases led her to address food deserts across the city. This led her to create the first “Community Garden” in Brooklyn where herbs, fruits and vegetables were grown and maintained by the residents of the Community. With the realization that individuals needed to learn how to care for themselves by making better choices, Ms. Millet created programs that included both children and seniors in growing healthy nourishing food. This propelled the identification of empty unused lots and the creation of gardens throughout the boroughs.

Now as President & CEO of MHHC, Ms. Millet has focused her efforts on structural reorganization, financial stability, building community partnerships, establishing community leadership, and forming relationships which will help MHHC improve the lives of those who otherwise have no voice and many times no choice. A strong proponent and advocate for community advancement, Ms. Millet also believes in working collaboratively to achieve the best outcomes for the communities she serves.

Over the years she has worked closely with numerous community-based organizations and elected officials to secure resources that assist in improving delivery of care models for the community with a strong emphasis in education and supportive services such as, HIV, Social Services, Anticipatory Guidance for Child and Adolescent Health.

Ms. Millet’s innate passion remains servicing underserved communities. This passion has fueled her mission to decrease healthcare disparities by increasing access to quality healthcare, quality healthcare inclusive of preventive care. It is Ms. Millet’s belief that every individual should have access to quality healthcare understanding the model of true patient care addresses the “Whole Being”, in all aspects of health-- social, physical, emotional, and intellectual with Pride, Passion and Purpose. She also holds the firm belief that Health Centers should be a “Medical Home” in the communities they serve. She remains strongly committed to strengthening the foundation of MHHC’s healthcare model while continuing to explore opportunities for growth and expansion.

As President & CEO of MHHC, Ms. Millet has expanded delivery of care services by creating and opening new suites for Ophthalmology and Dental at various sites, opening a brand new Central Sterile Unit, and an Urgent Care Center, all while opening a new site at MHHC Brooklyn. MHHC Brooklyn, a 2,500-square-foot health facility which opened its doors in 2022 will serve as a one-stop medical provider for thousands of residents in Central Brooklyn and includes a Maternal Center of Excellence. During the height of the COVID Pandemic, Ms. Millet realized that testing, vaccination and COVID education were key factors into getting communities healthy again, and mobilized teams to travel throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn to provide vaccines, testing and education in over 120 locations.

Ms. Millet has been honored by multiple organizations and media outlets for her work. Inclusive but not limited to accommodations by Senators, Assemblymembers, Councilmembers, the Governor and many more acknowledging the impact her leadership has made on the communities she serves.
