Kenneth Jones, MD

About Kenneth

Dr. Kenneth Jones has been the Deputy CMO at Morris Heights Health Center (MHHC) since April 25, 2013. He oversees the various services at MHHC, including the Urgent Care Department, HIV Services, the Specialty Department, Adolescent Services, Adult Medicine, and Family Practice. In addition, he supervises the organization’s Special Projects Coordinator and the Chronic Care Coordinator. He is responsible for developing policies and procedures for the various disciplines under his management. Presently, he is helping to develop a more robust Urgent Care Department and to expand Adolescent Services. In addition, he serves as the Project Co-Chair and Physician Champion for the organization’s conversion to the ICD-10 family of diagnostic and procedural codes. Dr. Jones is also leading an initiative to strengthen our use of the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) through the development of an EMR/Tablet template.

Prior to ascending to his current role, Dr. Jones served as the Medical Director for Adult Medicine/Family Practice at MHHC, from June 2010 until April 2013. As Medical Director, Dr. Jones evaluated the Family Practitioners, Nurse Practitioners, and Physician Assistants. During his tenure he also served as Chair of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee. As Chair he authored and revised policies and procedures to ensure their alignment to the vision of MHHC and the Joint Commission. He was part of group of staff who received training aimed at producing highly effective medical teams to provide high quality, safer patient care; this initial cadre of staff members continues to train other staff across the organization on Team STEPPS, an evidence-based teamwork system to improve communication and teamwork skills among health care professional From December of 2009 until June of 2010 he served as an Attending Physician for MHHC.

Dr. Jones received his medical degree in 2001 from New York Medical College in Westchester, New York. As part of his commitment to giving back to his community, Dr. Jones has always worked in underserved areas. His first job out of residency began in 2005, as an attending physician with Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, in the heart of Crown Heights, Brooklyn. After six months he was promoted to Medical Director. He served as Medical Director for 3.5 years with Kingsbrook Jewish, during which time he evaluated the ambulatory staff on a semiannual basis and was responsible for maintaining the regulatory standards of various city, state, and federal agencies. He simultaneously served as a preceptor for the hospital’s residency program as they rotated through ambulatory care. While there he also played a key role in the development of their Electronic Health Records system. As he currently does at MHHC, Dr. Jones also served as a practicing physician during his years with Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center.
