When I became a mother two years ago, I was filled with love but also fear. I wasn't financially stable, emotionally prepared, or mentally ready. I felt completely alone, overwhelmed by the weight of caring for a newborn without the support I needed. My biggest fear was failing my children. When my second child was born, prematurely, those fears only grew. But then I found MHHC's Healthy Start program. That's when everything began to change.
My StoryDuring one of the darkest times in my life, I walked away from a domestic violence situation with my four-month-old baby, mounting bills and no clear plan. Then, I got a call from WIC offering me a job opportunity. I was shocked. I only had a high school diploma and didn't think I was qualified. But they believed in me, offered to train me, and that opportunity changed everything. That job saved me.
