What we are doing within the School-Based Clinics to keep everyone safe

We want to assure you we have reviewed and strengthen our existing high-quality care delivery standards and practices to ensure the most rigorous COVID-Safe Care protocols are in place and available across our entire school- based clinic network. Safety is a priority. Our focus is the provision of safe care and to protect the health of all our students/patients. To ensure we are current ad compliant with all regulatory health practices, guidelines and standards. We have implemented:

1. Rigorous Cleaning Measures We have further strengthened the existing rigorous cleaning measures. Rooms and equipment are going to be cleaned according to standard precautions including frequently touched areas.

2. Masks and Sanitization Dispensers All students, staff, school’s personnel; parents/guardians, visitors to the SB Clinics are required to wear masks and/or face coverings distinctively covering the nose and mouth prior to entry. Individuals who don’t have their own will be provided one. Hand sanitizing dispensers are available upon entry and throughout the SB Clinics ensuring good hand hygiene requirements are easily adhered.

3. Social Distancing and Wellness Barriers All students, staff, school’s personnel; parents/guardians, visitors to the SB Clinics are asked to maintain a distance of at least six feet from one another, unless giving or receiving direct patient care. We have also adjusted seating layouts in the clinic wait area to limit capacity. We have also added floor spacing signs to support education and messaging. Wellness protective barriers have also been installed in the SB Clinics.

4. Universal Screenings SB Staff: ALL SB Clinic staff members conduct and log daily temperature checks upon arrival at work in keeping with current MHHC operational standard practices and health guidelines. This also extends to all NYCDOE requirements. Students: Utilizing the Screening Survey tool, ALL students/patients entering the SB Clinic for care will be screened for other symptoms and possible COVID-19 exposure.

5. Designated Isolation Room For everyone’s safety, each clinic within the school-based network has a designated treatment area to manage the care of COVID-19 presenting students.

6. TELEHEALTH MEDICAL SERVICES are now part of our SB Clinics standard care delivery model.
