Fall in Love with Your Health this Season!

5 Ways to Boost Your Health This Fall!

As summer gives way to the fall season, it's time to pack away your summer clothes and bring out those cozy, warm sweaters and take care of your physical and mental well-being.  While fall is an exciting time of the year, from colorful leaves to pumpkin spice lattes, it can also be a challenging time for your health. The change in season brings cooler temperatures, which for many can lead to allergies and cold flare-ups, while shorter days from daylight savings can bring on seasonal depression. Here are a few tips to stay healthy this fall season.

  1. Schedule your annual wellness visit- your annual visits allow you to monitor your health, stay up to date on your vaccines, and discuss or track any existing conditions with your provider.
  2. Eat in season fruits and vegetables- the fall season brings a variety of fresh and tasty produce like apples, pears, beets, sweet potatoes, and leafy greens. Incorporating these into your diet can increase your intake of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, while also helping your body fight off infections.
  3. Stay active- finding time to stay active is important. Add a routine workout to your schedule or get out and enjoy the beautiful weather with outdoor activities.
  4. Get your flu vaccine- the flu season is approaching and the best way to protect yourself and your loved ones is by getting vaccinated. The CDC recommends the flu shot to everyone age 6 months and older.
  5. Focus on your mental health- your mental wellbeing is just as important as your physical. Maintain an active social life, take on a hobby, meditate, try yoga, or speak with a therapist.
