NACHC 2016 Policy & Issues Conference

  • Date Posted: May 23, 2016

This week, key members of the MHHC team, along with a member of the Board of Directors traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) Policy & Issues Conference. At the conference, they engaged in grassroots advocacy on Capitol Hill, where they met with NYS Senators, Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, along with other key legislators to gain their support for critical funding that would help strengthen and sustain Community Health Centers. Four key funding "asks" were made, including: appropriations for discretionary funding for health center support; funding for training, recruiting, and retaining a robust and diverse provider workforce ready to deliver quality care; funding to preserve and strengthen the community health center model to drive innovation at the patient and community level; lastly, a final push was made for the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services to match state funding to fill the gap in Clinic Uncompensated Care Pool.
