major strategic goal and it takes pride in continuing to meet the
needs of the neighboring community. Morris
Heights Health Center
recognizes the population shift in their service area with the arrival
of the immigrant Bangladeshi community in the Bronx
that utilize as their health care providers. To learn more about the
barriers that the Bangladeshi community faces while accessing health
care and social services and to assist in reducing them, Morris Heights started conducting a
monthly Women's Group Meeting on Saturdays since 2006. The group
meets from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm to discuss and learn many issues. For

Advisory Council at 137th
Street

Morris Heights
Health Center at 137th Street is devoted to
providing the highest quality patient-centered care to our patients and
community. To ensure that our patients are involved in the decisions
we make; we have developed a Patient Advisory Council (PAC) with the
goal of promoting patient-centered care through collaboration between
staff, patients and the community. The council has been embraced by
patients, employees and the Board of Directors. The group consists of
patients and/or their family members who have received care at the
Center, staff and community representatives. Our philosophy is to
incorporate patient and family feedback into our practice to improve
the healthcare experience. The PAC meets the fourth Tuesday of the
month. The meeting runs from February through November. This year we
will be focusing on health topics that address the needs of the
community. Please note, you do not have to be a patient of Morris Heights Health
Center to join
the council.
