Harrison Circle
Always in the forefront of anticipating and responding to the community needs, Morris Heights Health Center, constructed the $50M innovative six-story mixed-use facility – Harrison Circle. This facility comprises of 70 housing units for low-income seniors, with supportive services, primary and specialty healthcare services; and a large commercial enterprise.
The 31,000 sq. ft. medical facility has been constructed through a combination of public support and proceeds from a New Market Tax Credit investment that supports more than 96% of the medical facility’s $29.4 million costs. The medical facility will alleviate the congestion of the organization’s main administrative and clinical site and allow for the provision of additional and expanded primary care services at that site.

The development of the Section 202 Housing for Low Income Elderly, through the use of innovative financing schemes to support its $19.4 million cost, has netted significant attention from the affordable housing and community development communities. The 70 unit residence for low income elderly is the first in New York to combine US Department of Housing and Urban Development Section 202 funds and investor equity through the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program. The combination of these sources ensures that the residential facility was constructed without the need for any additional funding.Through our efforts and the gracious support of like-minded organizations, elected officials and individuals, we have leveraged the initial expenditure of $1.3 million into a $48.6 million investment into this community’s future. Harrison Circle and its services will impact the health and wellbeing of the Morris Heights community for decades to come.
